Lloyd isn't the headcase, Marshall is. Lloyd is just another diva, his kind are ok if you baby them.

If I'm a team like Chicago that already has a franchise QB but with age on defense might not have a wide window to get back to the SB I'm all over a guy like Marshall (who played well with Cutler in the past). A head case like Marshall might be a good gamble in 2008 when we were maybe a good WR away from going to the SB ourselves.

I've been an advocate in the past for using draft picks to get WRs. Why not use a draft pick to trade or sign a RFA who you know can help the team sicne we had so many wasted draft picks on duds. Who wouldn't have given a 3rd round pick for a decent WR the year we used a 2 3rds and a 4th on Roby, Jones and Williams. Even one or two of those guys pan out they take a few years to develop. So that year we basically wasted three good picks for what? The next year we used a 6th round pick on Orr. The year after that we used 3rd, 4th and 6th round picks on Wrs with P. Williams, Chris Davis and Filani. So that was 3 3rds, 2 4th and two 6th round picks we wasted on WRs in a three year period. For what? Then we used another 4th on Hawkins the next year.

It wasn't until we got serious and used a 1st rounder on Britt that we finally got a decent guy. Before the Wright pick I was in favor of using our 1st on Mike Wallace. Why not? Get guys that can play. Wr is one position I'm all for doing what we have to do to get good players in.

But right now we don't need any head cases and have a nice group.

When you are a contender and have your superstar franchise player(s) you can make those trades however the Titans don't have that luxury yet. If Locker develops into a top 10 QB we will have the luxury of making these trades. If he doesn't we're stuck on the mediocrity treadmill until we build a dominant defense.

All in all I'm ok with the Titan's plan. Build through the draft, look for players in free agency who fit your system but won't break the bank, and bring in players who are going to compete.

Marshall is among the top 10 Wrs in receiving yards over the last 3 seasons and also among the top 10 in yards per route run. That despite his propensity for drops.

A head case yes but a very productive WR from his 2nd year.

Amazing that such a volatile player who might be dead any minute managed to start 15 games a year for the last 5 seasons and average 1200 yards and 90 catches per.

To this point he has not been suspended for anything has he?

Amazing that Steve Mcnair is one of the most revered players in titans history but Brandon Marshall is too much of a low life to play for us.

You guys realize that the apartment that Mcnair was murdered in was a sex den for Titans players right? Wasn't Eddie George just stopped with some babe in his car? Those are good guys!

The Brandon lloyd-josh Mcdanials connection would not matter had we just offered the Broncos a 5th rd pick for him during the season. The Rams gave a 6th guaranteed that would be a 5th if Lloyd caught 30 passes for them. He did.

We could have added a good player(11 games!), signed him for 3-4 years and it would have cost us a 5th rd pick.

Llyod's stats in 11 games for the Rams 51 catches for almost 700 yards. That's not worth a 5th rd pick? And the deal occurs AFTER the Britt injury.

I don't get your point, wait until we are super bowl contenders before addressing a position of need? Brandon Lloyd led the nfl in receiving yards in 2010 and here we were in 2011 with a chance to get him for a 5th rd pick! What WR would we normally get with a 5th rd pick?

If we had a Brandon Lloyd we can use that first pick on building that dominant defense. Even more true with Brandon Marshall. But Lloyd is cheaper and less risky but also older.

Who cares, McNair wasn't a headcase, people liked playing for him. Didn't Marshall butt heads with teammates and coaches? I could be wrong...

I agree. I see these arguments made all the time and they make no sense. Wait until you are already real good and then use 3-7th round picks on guys to help the team? Isn't that what picks are for? To help the team. Even if you hit the jackpot and find a quality WR in the mid to later rounds he is only going to be around for 4 years until he wants a big contract anyway. My point on WR is that of all the wasted picks we have had we could have had about 5 Brandon Lloyds.

Historically the last time we had a decent shot at a SB was 2008. How can anyone argue AT ALL that we might have been wise to consider a RFA WR that would cost us a pick or a trade for a proven WR in 2005-2008. There is no argument that can be made. We used 7 draft picks in three years prior to that season and got crap for our efforts (all but one of thsoe picks wasn't a 3rd or 4th round pick). Yea, using multiple 3rd and 4th round picks on WRs every couple of years (because they sucked and we have to try again) was real productive. In 2008 we had the great Brandon Jones and Justin Gage leading the way in receptions.

Now to a point we got our act together and started making WRs 1st round picks. But I could still argue if you had guys like Marshall or Lloyd you picked up with mid round picks maybe you can use those 1st round picks on another position. WR is one position I'd always be looking for a bargain guy who is proven, maybe still has some upside and isn't too old.

Finny thinks Andre Johsnon is the best. Throws punches in combinations as well and has a nice hook.
