A better D, CJ comeback, a better O-line, decent receivers... Locker does not have to be as awesome as we were hoping he would be, not yet anyway. Give him some experience without him having to constantly look over his shoulder and we can see what he is made of. We expect more, and we will get it. This will either be a breakout season, or something to build on. Locker is better than last Friday and will hit his stride. At least we didn't see any temper tantrums on the sidelines.

Lol how often does a team go with the vet that can't make it to the post season? Next to never. This is no different. If locker looks like a failure, then it gives a high draft pick, we decide of he made rational progress to maintain the starting job or we use the pick he earned us to replace him. Hass would maaaaybe get us 8 wins? His stats don't mean jack unless they are W's

This caught me a bit off guard, too.

But, only because the decision was made so soon.

Going with hass might be the pretty pretty idea, but it holds us back more than it helps. We know he is the check down king, we know he can manage the game. We know those things, but we also know he is glass and he can't win a SB. I want a SB. I want to see if locker is possible of getting his **** together or we can draft someone that can get a freaking Lombardi. Mmmmmmk.

Not that I think Locker will fail, but if he does, it's not crippling to a franchise like it used to be under this new CBA -- Rookie contracts are relatively small and we'd just draft another QB. It's still crippling in some ways of course (having to spend 2 first round picks on QB's so close)

This isn't a question about which QB will put up better numbers. The only number that matters is the W:L ratio. I think Munch likes his offense better with Jake because it gives the opposing defense more problems. I think the team plays better when Jake is QB. I think we run better, and I think given the pass protection we have, we need a QB that can scare the Def Coordinator a little.

About the last game, if two drops weren't drops he's be 6/11. The INT was HORRIBLE. Way overthrown... Watch any other games this weekend? Luck? 2INTS, Manning? 2INTS... One of Lucks was just as bad. It's preseason, don't get too caught up in numbers. I was more annoyed by the first possession 3 and out that was 3 run plays that went nowhere...

if you want an upside to that INT.. Locker learned from it... he was faced with that sort of play a few plays later and instead of throwing it he ran 20 some yards.... so in a sense.. he redeemed himself

Fans don't need to assume this decision is based on Locker's play on Friday. Coaches have seen his development from OTAs onward. They're the ones who sit in the film room and hear Locker break down a play. They have a better handle on how the team will respond to him on the field.

None of this translates to game success but this is a decision based on the big picture—for now and the future.

Actually, that was Locker. Responsible for four of Nate's seven receiving touchdowns on a a very limited amount of snaps. Hasselbeck was terrible the last eight games last season. He has been terrible through camp and preseason.
