Yeah, it'd be crazy to want a guy that has passed for more yards than any QB we've had in a decade WHILE having bum receivers...

Instead, who wouldn't want a guy that shows an inability to complete half his passes and can't stay in the pocket.

Yeah, you're right. It's us that's crazy. You "OOOOHHhh NEW TOY!" types are more logical on this one.

    Don't underrate merely "solid" play.

The worst part is- when Locker sucks this year (a given), you fans will turn on him just like you did VY that you overhyped the same way...

    It's a recipe for disaster.

They're not throwing bad passes, they're throwing new passes.

That's argument numero uno. The Jake Lovers first attack, use that against Hasselbeck. They don't think you know a good QB when you see one.

Now that this decision (the right one) has been made, the following need to happen.

    1. Palmer needs to put in all the bootlegs, the play actions, the goalline options, whatever.
    2. The WR's need to set the jug machine on high and learn to catch a pass thrown by a non-noodle arm.
    3. Jake needs to be told that its ok to run. That INT the other night was clearly because he hesitated to run. He had the first down easy, started to go for it, and then pulled up and tried an ill advised pass.

I have no doubt there will be some rough spots. I still think that Jake is better for us this season than Hass. And at least we are now building towards a future with someone.

1 year without Fisher and the QB sets the record for most passing yards as a Titan.

    That is amazing.

Outside of QB, are the Titans a MUCH better team than last year, because Matt isn't going to be a better player this season. Odds are he'll be a little worse, and hurt a little more. So unless you think the TEAM got drastically improved over the offseason, I don't think you can claim that starting Locker will cost you a superbowl this year. Matt is a great QB when you look at his career, but when you look at what we can reasonably expect this season, the optimist would say that he's going to be AS good. With Jake, you have no idea, but maybe you give yourself an opportunity to be better. (I'm waiting for someone to chime in that this year the Titans will have Britt all year... lol) As far as Jake's accuracy... that INT was wildly inaccurate, but most of his other balls haven't been bad. There are times where they aren't catchable, but I would also say that he was being cautious and keeping the ball away from a defender. If your WR makes a play on a hard to catch ball... that's why he gets paid. Accuracy doesn't mean you throw at a guys chest every down.

I'm not saying you guys don't know football or a good QB when you see one but I just find it baffling that you could seriously prefer us to have MH as our #1. I think you're overrating MH's play. Yes he did put up a lot of passing yards last year but that is misleading because the bar for our QB play was set so low by Vince and KFC.

The best way for Jake to learn and get better is to throw him in the fire. Coach's confidence in Jake is the most important factor in all of this. He's not the kind of guy who is gonna stop working hard now that he's WON the job.

    Here's the thing:

Some say, "Oh no! We can't let Locker play the first four weeks! We're playing really tough teams then!"

We're playing two teams with solid defense in the first four weeks, and one of them is suspect. Look:
Patriots - They're very mediocre on defense.
Chargers - Not a defensive powerhouse.
Lions - Yes, this will be a hard one for Locker.
Cows - Maybe. It's easy to have a high ranked defense when you played the worst offenses in the league. Given that the Saints and Panthers had very little problem scoring on them, I'm still in a "wait and see" mode for the Moo-Moos.

Then we have the Vikings and the Steelers. The former sucks, the latter is falling apart.

I think for the first few weeks the pressure is going to be on our defense. We can't expect our offense to keep up with the Patriots or even the Lions if those two can run free, and really, I think the only two games that are reaches for us in the first third of the season are those two. I have faith that we can handle the Chargers, Cows, Vikings, and Steelers as long as our D shows up.

I especially liked the part I read about him being the "hardest worker on the team" and the team "really being behind him."

THAT is the difference between Locker and VY. THAT is why, even if Locker starts rough, he WILL get better.

THIS has to be the reason for announcing Jake is the QB so soon after that Friday night game, so Palmer can have time to add things Hasselbeck can't do really well.

That first game at LP Field on ESPN is going to be exciting. I think you'll see a lot of big plays. Not too much of course, it is preseason still.
