Jerry Rice was pretty good. His 40 time was a 4.6

And also realize 40times never equal game speed. 40 times are overrated

Growing up watching Steve Largent I can say with certainty that 40 speed isn't everything, and there is a difference between football speed, and a 40 time. 40 times are a parlor trick that rarely matter in a football game. Put guys with full pads and a defender in front of them for the 40 time, then it might measure something useful. Like JCBrave just said, Football Player > athlete.

Exactly. Game speed is completely different than track speed. He showed incredible quickness and he was running away from them but they had the angle. Only guy I've ever seen just outrun angles is CJ.

My God people. This has become a thread for making excuses for a guys slowness when no excuses need to be made. Wright has looked like greased lightening so far and on that play Bolt wouldn't have been able to break free. By the time he got up to speed (after almost coming to a complete stop to jump for the ball, and regain his balance) the defender already had the angle. The only thing he did wrong on that play was he should have just kept running as fast as possible down the sideline instead of trying to cut back. Keep in mind the guys chasing him out there run fast also. Even if you had a 4.2 guy trying to run away from a 4.5 guy that is only 0.3 seconds difference in a 40 yard sprint. Give the 4.5 guy a step head start over only 10-20 yards and the fast guy is going to get caught.

Well to this I'll say this thread I will say..."Jerry Rice wasn't the fastest WR in the game only the most productive."

Not saying he's going to be a Jerry Rice, but players who aren't as fast have to work on other areas of their game to produce in this league. It's too soon to say for sure, but from what I've seen of him thus far I don't think he will have any problem working on the little things that will make him a great WR.
