Is it CJ, the OL or Palmer?

I think the interior OL is the biggest problem. I also think Palmer isn't much of a run offense kind of guy; he's all about the pass. I think CJ looks for the big play too often, that's a contributing factor yes but I think he holds the least blame in the run problems we have right now.

The #Titans have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with G Deuce Lutui (pronounced Luh-TWO-ee). Lutui (6-4, 338) has 6 years of experience with the Cardinals. He totaled 93 games played for the Cardinals, including 72 starts.
Clearly we have issues with the interior line...

look CJ might be done, but the main reason he dances is because he's used to being hit so soon. this line is absolute GARBAGE run blocking.

Legit analysis IMO, along the lines of what we have been saying too.

That article hits the nail on the head. We're trying to run a zone scheme with an OL build for power blocking. Although the writer seems to think CJ is better in a zone scheme, I actually don't think that's the case. I suspect CJ is better in a power scheme where he can quickly get to the 2nd level, outrun pursuers and make DB's take bad angles.

I agree. I think CJ is better when he knows where the hole is going to be and can hit it. He just doesn't have the vision or decisive decision making ability to be a great zone scheme RB. But in CJ's defense I don't think our OL has ever felt comfortable with the zone scheme. Just way to many times that we have breakdowns and allow guys into the backfield too quickly.

I know I've been extremely hard on the line, but they just can't be such awful players that that alone can make our running game non-existent like this. As we've all touched on, once players start hitting CJ in the backfield, he starts to give up to a certain extent for the rest of the day. I don't like that and I wish he wouldn't do that, but I can certainly understand his extreme frustration. CJ doesn't like getting hit hard. That is true. It's his style and it was always his style to avoid heavy contact. This Palmer scheme is just doesn't fit CJ at all. What is shocking to me is that so many Titans fans would seemingly rather the team get rid of CJ than Palmer. Don't get me wrong, if Palmer could just get with the players and Munchak and allow them to run the way they did in the past, I could see myself being happy with Palmer from a scheme standpoint, as I like what he's done with our passing game. His playcalling is somewhat questionable at times too I must admit. It's time for Palmer to make drastic changes to allow his players to be successful.
