Draft Barret Jones then draft Nico Johnson.

Edit: Though Johnson is an OLB. Hmmm... I'm sure we can find another good MLB in the draft. Still want Jones and Johnson in this draft though.

Not sure what angle you're taking but CJ is exactly the kind of player that should be cut. Highest paid player on the team with essentially 0 production and a bad attitude to boot.. Draft all depends on who is available.

you guys are talking about cutting someone but there;s no backup plan. Likje cutting CJ is going to get our defense off the field, teach our o line how to block, make Jared Cook a more consistent player, fix locker's accuracy issues, cure Griff's play action biting syndrome, and i could go on for days about the problems with this team outside of CJ. This team shows all the signs of a poorly coached team. This team also has no leadership, where's the volume?

Well I can't speak for everyone who said cut him, but don't you think its obvious that we wouldn't cut him until we had a solid game plan? I'd hope if we cut him, we'd be in the top 5 draft and draft a RB, or have a trade in place and get a Rb that fits our system and THEN cut him.

And that's not to say CJ can't turn into a player that fits our system. If he can develop into a martshall falk like player I think we have a better chance. Some of that is on Chris Palmer and getting creative like JC says.

If we are going to consider trading CJ, we need to consider the O line and the coach's in this thinking as well. There is no push in our O line, only retreat!

Oh I agree with you. This team has many holes to fill but I was speaking specifically to CJ in that post. As far as needing a backup plan if we cut CJ ...any back in the league could give us the production CJ has been giving and at a much cheaper rate. Actually getting rid of his cap space would go a long way in filling those holes on defense and/or OL.

People always try to say CJ could be a Marshall Faulk type but what has he showed you to make you think that? He has terrible hands and I get the feeling he would rather having rushing stats. That's all he cares about.

Coaches fault. He held out last year and was rewarded with a new contract. This year he's jogging behind blockers and cut over here cut back looking for lines. That is soft running. The staff knows whats going on. My proof... the # of touches per game. How about the bench for CJ? Sit him down, don't invite him to team functions for a week and see if he responds. He is a very good running back BUT it is up to him to run past the lead block and take harder hits to pick up that extra yard if the play is slow to develop and save the cutback for 3rd and long. I would love to see more single back formations with CJ in motion to wr and things like that. Just what I'd like to see but single back 3 wide out is more of a nightmare because CJ can't(won't) throw a block.
