[float][IMG][/float] A report surfaced early Wednesday that Titans second-year quarterback Jake Locker had emerged internally as the favorite to start this season in Tennessee. The report was especially believable because Locker flashed big-time ability off the bench in 2011. He also outperformed incumbent Matt Hasselbeck on the first two days of training camp.

    It’s been downhill since.

Locker has completed just 9-of-30 passes in the Titans’ last two practices. Meanwhile, Hasselbeck has gone 26-for-31. Locker hit rock bottom during Thursday evening’s session, missing on his first seven attempts before finishing 1-of-10 with an interception.

Some of Locker’s passes were interfered with, and receiver Nate Washington dropped one. But Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean observed too many “sailed” throws. Added ESPN AFC South blogger Paul Kuharsky, “the accuracy issue is alive and well.” Remember, the book on Locker coming out of college was that he possessed an exceptional arm-athleticism combination, but his accuracy needed fixing.

Coach Mike Munchak promises that he’s not worried.

“If guys aren’t hitting what they want, obviously they start pressing a little bit,” Munchak explained. “But that is something that happens in this league, and you have to move on. We’re in training camp and there’s a lot of ups and downs in camp and [Locker] will be fine.”

We’re sure Locker will be “fine,” too, but he won’t be beating out Hasselbeck if he continues to perform like this. Look for the Titans’ quarterback competition to clear up in exhibition games.

Tennessee opens the 2012 preseason in two Saturdays at Seattle.

And this is why I've stood behind Hasselbeck this offseason. I know what Hass is going to do, we don't know what Locker is yet, no matter how bad you want him to be the guy, he may just not be ready, and thats ok for now while Hass is here.

The MH haters will still be in denial.

I know it's just a practice, but 26/31 in comparison to 9/30 is a pretty good sign of who's going to be starting day 1.

Worst thing about those MH haters is they seem to think us appreciating Hasselbecks abilities makes us JL haters.

We're talking about practice. Practice, not a game. Not a game, practice. Once we get into preseason and the pass rush is real then we will see Jake rise to the occassion. MH will revert back to his KFC ways. Book it! :pointsky:

Ugh, c'mon Big Time Titan, don't you start with those KFC comparisons, RavensShallBurn will go nuts on you if you do. KFC was awful, just awful, he could be beaten with 1 single blitz, thats all it took to rattle him into throwing at William Hayes head on the sidelines, KFC worst Titans QB ever.

You now deserve to be punched in the face through the internet for using the term "book it".

As for the topic. I am tired of the back on forth on a day to day basis. I would rather all opinions from the talking heads to wait till they have the full body of TC and pre-season before they yammer on.

MH is better at this point than Locker. This changes dramatically when MH gets hurt.

MH will start, get hurt, and Locker will come in and light it up.

    book it.
