    Yes...

He surprised me too. I had quite a few guys - like Bain - rated as 5th rnd picks (and I think Walter Thomas was worth a shot in the 4th rnd given his athleticism and size (375lbs, runs in the low 5's - fast for his size, and a high motor guy)). We took a similar physical but raw player (Henry) in the 2nd round.

With everyone complaining about Haynesworth and him not getting enough help...I think a 325lb Haynesworth next to a 375lb Thomas would do wonders for tying up blockers...like a Ted Washington in his prime for little cost. Even better as an UFA....course we didn't get him.

Considering we could use a 3rd QB, TE (cheaper than what we have know), back OLB/ST, CB (can't have enough good ones...especially if we say goodbye to Woolfolk and Waddell), P (Hentrich's not cheap though still good) and K (Bironas could use some good competition). And most of all...we have a black hole at RDE so bringing in some of the best pass rushers (no matter the size) would have been smart. We also have a rather unsettled return game so bringing in a couple of the best PR/KR's left would also have been smart. I know they envision Chris Davis being the next Derrick Mason...but they draft Waddell with a similar idea and he's done nothing.

I saw a stat on NFL LIVE stating that about 27% of starting players on rosters were undrafted free agents. Even if half of them are bad starters (or players who shouldn't be starters), that still leaves almost the same number of players undrafted becoming decent starters as first round players becoming starters (though not the same quality). If we could find a decent starting player at DE, DT, OG, RB, WR, backup QB, backup LB, and or KR, we'd be in better shape. Instead, we grabbed a bunch of camp fodder while other teams went searching for diamonds in the rough. Maybe we find one...like we used to, but I'm not holding my breath considering this crop of UFA's.

I'm disappointed they didn't do better with this important part of the draft.

They will be forgiven if they swing a trade for Dwight Freeney, Jared Allen, or Brian McRae (for the right price)....and sign Me-shawn who would be an excellent stop gap.

    Gut
