42 yard extra point!

Might as well just do away with the extra point because I don't think any team would opt to kick a 42 yard field goal for 1 pt when you can just run the ball 2 yards for 2 points.

do you know how easy a 42 yard FG is? Bironas was 10 of 10 last year, its not a big deal at all

 

Well, there is a 78% conversion rate, league wide, since 2010. While there is a 50% conversion rate on 2 pt conversions. I think those odds alone show that the 2 point conversion is a better option, in this scenario.

Now, throw in the fact that teams will surely now have a 2 point conversion practice session, there's no doubt those odds will go up even higher.

If this happens, the 1 pt conversion will definitely be the new 2 point conversion and vice versa.

 

The games last long enough with all of the challenges, TV time outs, and other stoppages. Making it any longer would make it just about maddeningly insane to watch a football game.

If anything, I think they need to make the games more fast paced.

If a team is ahead by 28 points with 2 minutes left and possession of the ball.. it would be a crime to drag that out simply because there's a rule that makes them gain positive yardage.

 

Its not criminal. Its football, played the full 60 minutes. A stinkin inch keeps the clock ticking. You managed a 28 point lead. Now with 2 minutes left, you cant muster positive yardage to keep the clock moving? Fine, just leave the game alone. I am game for that.

 

It's not a bad idea. We all go pee and get a beer when they line up for extra point. If there's less than 99.99% chance he'll make it, we might watch. If the odds end up encouraging more 2pt conversions, we'll definitely watch. Just takes a meaningless play out of the game and replaces it with something a bit more exciting.

 

People hate change, so they're going to ***** and whine at first, but its a good move if it happens.

 

I take full advantage of the pee/beer refill break that comes after TDs. I don't want to have to miss a meaningful play.
