    Murder or suicide?

Arguello was one of the all time great fighters who did well for himself since retiring from the ring. He was the mayor of Managua the capital of his home country Nicaragua.

In the 1980s Arguello was a staunch supporter of the Somosas' return to power and the contras who were trying to take back power from the leftist sandanistas. When i heard about his return to the country to participate in politics there i was very concerned that he would be a target and i think he was. The pro sandanista newspapers were just a little too quick to announce this as a suicide.

Arguello was at least as good at his sport as mcnair was at his so i thought his death deserved at least a mention here.

    Alexis Arguello RIP..

One of the best pure punchers in boxing's history IMO. Didn't follow much of his political dealings afterwards. RIP.
