I was adding to the point that RSB made about Champ and Winfield being in the same boat. I say pass. Give the younger guys a shot.

This is a shame, you guys are letting a players age determine if he can play on a football field

Age is always a major factor in player signings.

Why did no one sign Mawae after we let him walk?

Guy was easily a top 5 center even at 39 years old, but no one wanted him... because he was 39 years old and not able to play for much longer.

And what about Michael Turner? Why'd the Falcons cut him?... He's old.

Umm because he was losing muscle mass and getting weaker.

are you kidding me? youre going to compare a CB with a Center? one needs strength, the other doesn't. Winfield was never a fast guy, but he's smart and physical

he's exactly the kind of player we tend to play at CB these days

He was actually one of the better slot CBs the last few years. He'd be great in the slot, but what we need is someone on the outside starting to push Verner inside. If he's cheap then a 1-2 year deal for depth for sure.

    This is what you said:

And teams obviously take age into consideration. There are great players who could probably still play, but why pay a premium price for a guy who can play 1-2 more seasons (and be average) when you can pay (around) minimum salary to young CBs in the draft who could be around for many years?

Then from his standpoint it might be a good move, but I promise you it's not a great move for our team moving forward.

I mean, I wouldn't complain if we signed him, but I wouldn't be expecting much.
