Hmm seems some crazy qb agrees practice is time to test limits.

Disclaimer: not tryna knock mariota, as a few d players stepped up and said he's not being gunshy pretty much.

 

What do you mean test limits? He doesn't know the offense well enough to be calling audibles or doing Aaron Rodgers stuff. Rodgers is a vet Mariota is a rook maybe he hasn't thrown a pick because the offensive line is healthy and is giving him time to throw

 

I know if i was a qb in practice is when I'd throw up 50/50 jump balls. Not saying mariota hasn't done things like that, I haven't been there. I just know I'd like to know who comes down with those in practice before having to do it in a game time situation.

 

Why? You wouldn't throw a pass like that in a game situation you'd throw it away instead right? I'd rather make the smart passes in practice so in games I just continue what I've been doing in practice. If I play dangerously in practice and throw up 50/50 balls that won't transition well to the game. Rodgers does it because he's had years with the same system and its his to tinkle with. Mariota doesn't have as much freedom cus he's got your boy mett gunning for his spot

 

I'd like a qb who's comfortable and confident to throw those throws.
Obviously its not meant to be a staple in the o. And honestly at this point mariota has all the freedom in the world. No way whiz could ever play mett unless its due to injury.

But yes Rodgers is a vet. But I do bet he had this same mentality his whole carer.

But you understand the difference between a veteran QB purposefully throwing bad balls, and a QB making his first NFL practices?

The two situations have nothing in common.

If Mariota came out and said he was throwing bad passes on purpose so he could see if his WRs could make plays, Whis would literally **** his pants.

 

A bad pass? Who said anything about a bad pass.

 

So you guys think a qb picked at #2 overall shouldn't ever be asked to throw a deep ball when its one on one? Wow. That's pretty terrible.
