Either that or cause Odell is one of the NFL's poster childs and is above the league for certain things.

 

Do it anyway Avery, at least you'll have done SOMETHING on game day!

Make the NFL write that fine, then rescind it due to union backlash.

 

Saw on PFT where some police union offered to pay his fine if he wore the cleats. I fully support Avery's cause on this but can't help but think that union could find better ways to spend their money than paying the fine of a very well paid athlete.

 

I'm sure that anyone that wears anything that violates the uniforms rules will get fined, even NY players. They do it and pay the fine... Just use the money that the fine would cost towards a good cause... We all know that people sympathize for the victims. Paying a $15,000 fine to wear some fancy shoes doesn't help anyone.

 

They only allow it if they can somehow make money off of it in merchandising. It really is a shame. We saw this last season when they wouldnt allow D'Angelo Williams wear pink all season to honor the many women in his family affected by breast cancer.

 

I understand the NFL doesn't want to set a precedent where players can alter their uniforms, but they really should understand that things like this doesn't sit well with the majority of the fan base.

 

They're afraid to make exceptions because the line then gets blurry but this is definitely bad.

 

They made an exception for Odell Beckham Jr.
