What was known about steroids when McGuire and Sosa were hitting their HRs? Yes, Bonds brings a lot of it on himself for being a jerk but there wasn't a lot of info out there until the Conseco book was published. That opened some eyes and generated a ton of questions which led to the current MLB policy.

This "spread out the blame" does not supercede individual responsibility.

I've never suggested that Bonds should not be held accountable- just that he should not be held any more accountable by the public than any other player who has yet to test positive but has highly suspicious performance record. And the other parties involved- the league, the owner's and the player's union should receive their equitable share of public disapproval.

Why the hell is there an entire Baseball Tonight dedicated to Barry Bonds? You'd think that he died today or something

It kills me that the steroid issue is only an issue because Bonds broke 'the most hallowed record in baseball'. So, it's perfectly fine to break the season HR record on roids. The stats still count, the All-Star appearances, etc with no asterisks. BUT break the all-time HR record and boy how things change!
Doesn't make much sense, does it?

What's funny is - this Bond's controversy is the most attention baseball has seen since the strike. And that's why it's being hyped.
