If we sign Porter than yeah move on but if not it wouldn't be crazy to go CB in the 1st.

If BPA is a QB I'm almost positive you'll be able to trade down and get much better bang for your buck.

Again, I really am a believer in fixing our woes on our DL. You can have the best CB in the game if the pass rush isn't there they will look average. I just believe having a good pass rush starts up front and in the middle.

A CB is a good pick, but if I had to choose between the two I would choose a DT. Consider it this way, a team can scheme against a CB, they can cut the field in half and throw away from him!!! If the CB is a return specialist they can kick away from him etc. What you can not do is take a DT out of the game.

As far as why I say DT > DE. I said it before in this thread. I think a great DT can improve the play of DE but you really do rarely see it the other way around.

Also, it is well known that we need help on OL. However, I don't see the need to go that route using our first two picks unless the player is just so exceptional we can't pass him up.

In recent years we have always maintained great offensive lines only drafting players in rounds 3-5 (off the top of my head...can't think of many players drafted early on). Now I do realize that we have a big area of need to address in this department but call me crazy I actually have faith in the teams ability to develop players on the OL (unlike what has been noted at WR).

Why change that formula now??? I would really love to see us getting back to that hard nose defense we used to have. I would go defense in rounds 1 and 2. We have to slow down those Texans and build a team that can compete with some of these offensive power houses!

Casey and a 1st rd DT could be a terror in the middle. Add in Klug with 1st rd DT/Casey on passing downs, and our interior Dline could be great. Smith/Marks could be rotational just to keep fresh bodies in there. That would really give us a very talented and deep DT position. Then use some of the later picks to fill DE depth since we just invested in Wimbley. And I agree 100% about DTs making the DEs better, so its really like upgrading 2 positions at once.

You guys are spot on about the pass rush. It covers a multitude of sins. Remember '08 when Big Al was dominating? That also happened to be the year Cortland and Griff had their best years. Imagine Poe, Brockers, Cox or Still beside Casey? Then get a DE in the second like Malik Jackson (maybe too early for him), Andre Branch, or Cam Johnson? Immediate upgrades.

I'm actually hoping we can trade for a center. Sounds crazy, but I think that's a position that you need a veteran to play. I'd package players like Marks, S. Smith, or even Mariani (since the new kickoff rule has limited his effectiveness a lot). What do you think?
