Also looks like he came from a rough background somewhat similar to Michael Oher.

• His father died when he was little leaving his mother to care for him and his six siblings.
• But she fell ill soon after and ended up in a wheelchair.
• An assistant football coach took him in but he ended up dying in a car accident soon after
• A retired ROTC director ended up his legal guardian
• Last year one of his younger brothers was killed in a triple homicide which apparently really messed with Marcell's head
• He also had some academic issues at Alabama and was suspended for accepting gifts from an agent
