"But all the good players side with Vince"..

I believe there were some bets placed here a while back that Fisher would be done in the NFL before Vince was.. Let's see how that plays out. D'oh!

But I think Fisher is basically done too if he can't get his team to win a playoff game in the next 5 years.

FIVE years? That's a bit generous given his tenure..

That applies to every HC in the league sans maybe a couple..
Fisher outlasting VY by 5 years (or twice the length of the average NFL career) is a resounding win in regard to the bet..

Are you assuming that nobody will ever sign VY again?

I would say that is a very safe assumption. Considering he didn't exactly have a hard road to a roster spot in Buffalo.

Possible. I personally don't think it's that unlikely though.

General rule of thumb for head coaches (unless you're with the Raiders): You get three seasons to prove something unless you are blatantly inept and go 1-15. If you reach the playoffs, that basically buys you another two seasons, applying the same original rules to those years.

Here's how the Fisher/STL deal is going to play out.

    2012: 5-11

Fans and the organization will look at this as a step in the right direction. After all, they were 2-14 last year. It is an improvement, but nothing to be excited about, but the delusional Fisher fans will be.

    2013: 7-9

They had so many draft picks this year. Those picks will flourish this season and they'll see a noticeable improvement and be able to compete. Unfortunately, they'll experience 4th quarter collapses and long losing streaks that the Titans grew to know all too well.

    2014: 10-6

It's a fluke year. Key injuries throughout the division allow them to sneak into the playoffs. One and done. However, this buys Fisher two more seasons. Fans have high hopes for 2015.

    2015: 8-8

Back to his old ways. Rams start off very slow, but finish the season strong.

    2016: 9-7

Sneak into playoffs and actually win a game in the wildcard round. Unfortunately, they get blown out 38-6 the next week. Fans are still pleased because they end their 12 year playoff win drought.

Rinse and repeat. Pure hell, STL. Watch out.

still crazy to think that somehow, someway, Vince still has a better winning percentage than Tony Romo - and is in the top 5 or whatever it is in win % of all current QB's?!

He just has no stats or work ethic :anon: and probably has one of the ugliest throws in the game
