It's too early for the Jags to give up on him. What they need is a Hasselbeck-type of QB who can mentor the kid and step in and start when times are tough.

Not surprising that Gabbert would bust.

    Easiest call I've ever made.

Even easier than the Newton call?

Exactly. They should have brought in a vet instead of dive back into the draft for another rookie, IMO.

    Tell that to Matt Lienart.

Lienart had more that two years to show something.

    2006: 11 starts
    2007: 5 starts
    2008: 0 starts
    2009: 1 start
2010: DEREK ANDERSON TOOK HIS JOB LOOOOOOOOOOOOOLZZZZZZZZ

He really only had one year (his rookie), then Warner took over. Once Warner was gone, and Lienart "learned behind a vet", he got the boot.

The Cards coaching staff had four years to watch him at camp, practice, etc. He obviously wasn't showing them anything to indicate he'd ever be a decent QB.

BTW, Warner is borderline HoF, IMO.
