    And was good.

He lead the NFL up through midseason or so one year in reception yards until he got hurt.

So as a defense they gave up those points. No it wasn't fully in the fault of the CBs tho they played a role in it. Regardless I blame the scheme more so but the CBs numbers are pretty bad.

They are of course affected by the d line and the domino effect of the defense.

I do think they will play much better this year tho. The ridiculous 10 yard cushion didn't help a bit.

ATV - there's always a place for a guy who makes plays and he does this as much as any of the corners. My bet is he'll get his chances on the field.

For sure. I think he's a play maker/ game changer when he's put in the right areas. I imagine he could play some good free safety.

Could have replaced them with Sherman and Browner... wouldn't have mattered.

You can't pick out but maybe a couple times that Verner gave up much.

My comment was too broad initially. I'll agree with that.

Vern did give up a considerable amount of yards less than Mccourty. I've noted all this in previous threads abut "who's better"

He also plays on the left side... So he most likely doesn't see the ball as often either. though since we didn't move anyone, the offenses had the opportunity to decide match ups.i remember when Harvin was placed on Vern... Dude got smoked over the top. He has his flaws as well.

You don't boot your best (arguably) corner because he may not fit a new scheme. You make the scheme fit him any way you can even if it means modifying the new scheme a bit.

Verner stays. We need a poll on this one.

I'd honestly love to see him at FS but I'm not sure that's gonna happen.

With injuries and matchups, we'll need Vern's talents this season. Regardless who the starters are, there's always chances that other players could unseat them. I hope the CB position stays competitive and the best players make it on the field.

Hell, even McCourty's job could not be secure if some of our younger corners keep improving.

Does anybody think having Verner toy around at FS means we'll attempt to re-sign him as a FS instead of a CB?

Ive always had a funny felling we'll lose Verner next year to free agency, but maybe this is a sneaky way of keeping him for less?

The top FS Eric Weddle makes $6M/yr, whereas the top CB's today make double that per year.
