I can't believe they gave him that big of a contract.

Similar to the Drew experience in St. Louis.

    No thanks.

Except Jones was never close to as good as Drew. What the 49ers did was more insane IMO and I saw it coming when all he was good for was fielding punts and he wasn't even good at that anymore.

No way the Titans consider him IMO. That would be simply stupid.

BJ looked promising that first preseason then just seemed to be either injured or dropping passes.. SF signing him for so much was strange indeed.

will teams ever learn to stop getting Titan players? 99% of the time they never work out for the next team. the list is huge.

This is one of the rare times where I agree with Jesse. Other than Mason, when we lose our big players they usually become inexistent.

Mason is by far the Titans' biggest loss of all time. It pisses me off thinking about it and how much better we could have been through the past 5-6 years with him. Sure, we'd have our bad seasons still, but he would've helped tremendously in 06-09.

BJ would just add to our average depth at receiver. He'll get a chance with someone else... just not us

BJ seemed to have fallen short of our expectations when he left, and he continued that in San Fran. I preferred Roydell anyway.

Jones' contract was for $3.3M a year with a relatively modest SB so it was not that outrageous for a guy with 41 catches in 2008. The risk was with his injuries he just wasn't healthy very often and that's what ruined him.

We signed Nate for a little more than that and he obviously is an upgrade without all the injuries, more downfield ability and more upside. We obviously did the right thing.

    2008 stats..

    Nate Washington 40 catches, 631 yards, 3Tds, Contract 6 years, $4.45M a year..

    Brandon Jones 41 catches 449 yards, 1 TD, Contract 5 years $3.3M a year...

41 catches in 2008 was not bad for our #3 WR. He would have been a real solid guy had he not hurt his knee as a rookie.

Roydell? He hasn't played in 2 years and had a career ending foot injury.

In short we did the right thing by basically swapping Nate for BJ but BJ wasn't terrible he just kept getting hurt.
