Newly acquired Brandon Jones is lining up as the 49ers' "Z" receiver, or flanker in offseason workouts.
Josh Morgan is at split end. The Niners' flanker last year was Isaac Bruce, but he'll return as a reserve if he doesn't retire. Morgan will be the deep threat, while Jones will be a strong candidate to lead the Niners in catches.

I really think letting Jones go will come back to bite us. Wont effect us but i think BJ will make a lot of us fans wish we still had him ,especially if he leads the 49ers in catches.

they don't have a QB to get him the ball, so it seems unlikely he'll become the fix-all in San Fran.

he's always hurt. i think we just got tired of waiting for him to put it all together. besides, san fran gave him more money than we gave gage last year.....

I think we simply miss-used the guy when he was actually healthy. Typical Fisher.

Losing Brandon Jones is similar to when we lost Drew Bennett...

The Rams gave Bennett some shocking 5-year $30 mil contract. Everyone thought he would work out well there (which turned out to be completely wrong). But, everyone also knew that money like that for a guy like Bennett is a complete and total waste.

If the 9ers want to give him $16.5 mil, that's fine. He's not worth it.

The NFC West is still the NFC West.

Also, I'll add this... Brandon Jones made our team look stupid at times. His celebrations were ridiculous and left you with a "WTF!?" expression on your face.

I'll miss him, but we will be better at the WR position next season anyways.

I dont ever remember his celebrations, but it's hard to make a team look stupid after scoring a TD.

I agree......I don't think a team can look stupid after scoring a touchdown. I don't care what kind of celebration it is.

He celebrated multiple times without scoring a TD. This is a guy who only has 9 TDs in his 4 year career.

I'm talking about when he decides to make himself look like an idiot and get up after a catch, jump up and down like a woman, and humilate the team... and then when he celebrated in the endzone against the Jags... Someone please tell me WTF was that?!... he got flagged for excessive celebration... When you get penalized at stupid times, it makes your team look stupid... *cough cough* Ocho Cinco *cough cough*

When CJ celebrated with the bongos no one cared. That's because CJ is amazing (unlike Jones) and we were destroying the Chiefs. There was nothing wrong with it.

I dont think we used him enough. He was making catches when the rest of the players couldnt catch a cold.

I read some where he wanted to leave the Titans so he could play a bigger role. I think this kid will shine if the 49ers gives him a shot at leading their passing offense.

that is a good point. There is a double standard that that exists for phenom first round talent and chronic underachievers. I don't know if it's fair to lump Jones in with that group but he never did anything all that remarkable.
