    Any chance we look at Meriweather to replace Hope? I'd guess he'd be close to the same $ and we'd get younger.

    meriweather isnt really trash. just couldnt make it the belichick way. imo. he was a pro bowler last year

    The depth charts on NFL.com show that they're both Strong Safetys. Is that not correct?

    Guess it doesn't matter now that the Bears picked him up anyway.

    The Bears got him to replace Major Wright who has been their free safety.

    Meriweather made the pro bowl the last 2 seasons so he isn't trash.

    To be fair, it was absolutely ridiculous that he was a Pro Bowler (let's not forget that Vince Young was once a Pro Bowler... sometimes bad players get in). Merriweather did not have a good year last season and he's not a particularly special player in any way. The Patriots don't just cut guys who are good for fun.
