I don't think anybody thinks he's the second coming..

But this 2013 roster did not have 1 NFL starting caliber MLB on it.

We're just looking ahead to some MLBs that deserve roster spots.

Fokou is a 3rd MLB at best. McCarthy is unreliable, 2nd MLB at best.

 

Jackson is just an older one of those

 

As nickmsmith said, we know he's not the 2nd coming... but he's better than McCarthy & Fouku, by a long shot. He's a lockeroom leader and is still valuable on the field. Plus, he already has a relationship and understanding of Hortons scheme. He would be a good fill-gap for 2-3 years at MAX. He won't demand a big deal. I don't see the harm in this signing.

 

Well it's not really Hortons call, he can put in a word - but that's no promise.

He's at the end of his career, but I'd STILL take him over McCarthy or Fouku ANY day.

 

Not a stop gap?

Hasn't missed a game in 3 seasons, over 400 tackles, over 8 sacks, 4 ints, few forced fumbles in that time period.

Come on the guy can still play, you don't accidentally get 141 tackles in a season like he did last year. Fokou has 178 total tackles for his career in 5 years.

I don't know for sure if he'd fit our scheme, but he's been heads and shoulders above all of our current MLB in terms of production.

 

we can do so much better in the draft than this guy

 

like Rennie Curran or Stanford Keglar?
