I tell you who's looked good on ST this year.

    Tulloch
    Finnegan
    Lowry..

    Especially the latter two.

Boclair is right on target. He has the best football mind among all the local writers, IMHO. Go back and read his articles in the DNJ and his blogs for the last few years.

Nickey is not and never has been a quality NFL safety but he is a quality special teams player, one the Titans would do well to keep. He's not the best backup player on the roster, but he will contribute more than most of our backups.

Nickey, Tulloch, and Buckwoldt are the best special teamers the Titans have, not including the gunners. (And excluding the specialists.) So is Cramer, although not in tackles.

Nickey has 10 special teams tackles (5 solo, 5 assists) this year. Tulloch has 11 (7 solo, 4 assists) and Buckwoldt has 15 (10 solo, 5 assists). Tulloch won't play as often on special teams after he becomes the full-time starter, but Nickey and Buckwoldt can continue to contribute on STs next year.

The gunners Finnegan (9 solo, 2 assists) and Lowry (8 solo, 1 assist) are excpected to be in position to make tackles.

Nickey's stats are comparable with all of them and he also contributes when not called on as a coverer.

When the Titans have to make their annual roster cutdown to 53 players after training camp next year, those guys with proven special teams skills will make the cut ahead of guys who may have more physical talent or may be more skilled as backups.

Read No:4. The full article isn't available without paying for it but I remembered reading it & he already own the centre back then & spent his off seasons there.

Hey, he's not in a position where we notice him that much, but he's certainly worth it for depth. I say keep him. Then we always have an obscure name to toss out there as a reason for not benching an underperforming starter...

Like I wrote earlier, there will not be room on the roster next year for Nickey. Thompson, Lowry, Hope and Fuller will all be back for sure and we will be drafting at least one safety in the draft, possibly in the 1st day. We will keep 5 Ss and 5 CBs more than likely so unless a rookie totally bombs (they would have to be a second day pick to get cut) the 5th S spot will be the rookie. There is also a possiblity we draft more than one S with all our picks and we could even pick up a vet S to compete.
