Blaming the coach for play on the field is like blaming the teacher for bad test scores. There are people there to teach/coach you and give you general guidelines and knowledge but at the end of the day, the student/player has to perform to pass the test/win the game.

I don't think any of the mistakes that were made in that game were due to not being taught what to do. The players just didn't execute what they were supposed to do.

The entire offensive game plan was a waste from the beginning of the game. That's on the coach.

Again, who told Kern to kick the ball to Benjamin? It was a coach. Who kept calling downfield passing plays when it was obvious the OL couldn't stop the rush? A coach. Who put a rookie at RT when he was getting blown up repeatedly? A coach.

I totally understand where you're coming from. I do believe the players are ultimately responsible for fundamental execution on the field. But things related to personnel, play-calling, scheme, discipline, etc. fall squarely on the coaching staff. You can bet Whiz didn't go home last night thinking every decision he made leading up to and during the game was the right call.

    Thus, a TEAM loss.

This team lacks talent in key areas. It has a lot of inexperience in others. Sloppy football will be seen often this season as a result. The goal, IMO, is to see improvement these next four weeks and Whiz & Co form some kind of character with this team.

If a whole classroom fails a test then it is on the teacher...that's anywhere you go...teacher is responsible for making sure all students have the understanding to pass a test...if they all fail then either the test did not cover what they were taught or the teacher did a poor job at making sure generally every student understood the material.

We were actually moving the ball until West fumbled it and gave it to them at the 50.

We were down 14-0 out the gate so I don't believe we ever got into our gameplan. Or were in a position to execute a gameplan outside of catching up and moving the chains.

That's the thing with Whiz, 14-0 is not insurmountable by any means. We put up 28 in the first half last week. But he abandons and goes into panic mode so quickly.

He allowed the Browns D to Tee off on Mariota in the first half, but someone slapped his ******* at halftime and realized the way to slow the Browns rush was to run the football on them and dictate tempo. He's always in such a rush, and he doesn't protect his QBs.

We know the OLine is horrible, the other team knows the Oline is horrible, HE MUST KNOW THE OLINE IS HORRIBLE! put some help over by Poutasi, get the ball out of MM hands quicker, run the ball!! it's the same thing that happened with Mett last year.

I think he is. And I agree Kelly has either been figured out or his players have already quit. They've had pro sports running the ball for two years now. And it's his system. They aren't fast enough to make it work as silly as that sounds. There ain't no one 'fast' enough to make that work in this league.

Wow, thanks! Most teachers are getting the blame for not teaching those without talent/desire to learn. The same goes for coaching I suppose. And too, some of these kids take a while to learn their lessons. After all, college football is a ways away from college football.

The student/player can be fed all the information they need but that doesn't guarantee results. Whether it be that they don't care to learn or if it just doesn't translate...its not always the teachers fault.

When it comes to something physical like football, there's other aspects to consider too. Just because you mentally get what you're supposed to do doesn't mean you physically can. Just because you can physically do what needs to be done doesn't mean you're mentally prepared to. Some things can't be taught/coached.
