Ayers can get off a block and play the ball in coverage. Already two more things than Casey. Add to the fact that Casey sometimes just gives up once he's blocked and there's clearly a reason why he was 13th off the board at his position. He brings little to the table other than straight-line speed.

Basically, with Casey, you tell him to run in a direction and pray to God nobody picks him up on a block or he's useless.

Really? That's also how people like Chris Johnson get drafted. And, it's not like McCarthy doesn't have the production to back it up. In fact, I would argue that McCarthy has better instincts than Matthews. From the film I watched, Matthews was more willing to give up his body for the tackle, but McCarthy had better field presence. He knew where to go, even if he didn't posses that elite burst in getting there.

Ayers gets blown out of every play, so don't say he can get off blocks.

If you can generalize like that then I can say the same for Matthews. Ayers actually TRIES to get off blocks, and many times does. Matthews gets blocked and usually gives up.

Ayers gets blocked by guys half his size though. Dude's god awful- no way around that.

One interception he made (which was great- but probably a fluke) got him drafted.
