A lot of people are in love with great pass rushers and want to make the pass rush a priority over good corner backs. Sacks are exciting however is the pass rush more important than a strong secondary? Can you get by with a crap secondary when you have a great pass rush?

    Let's look:

Carolina is number 1 in the league in sacks with 44 -- Yet they are dead last in pass defense

Houston has the best defense in the league -- and are 28th in team sacks

Houston has also managed to have the best defense in the league without, what some people think is the best player in the league, sack master JJ Watt. Their secondary though is excellent.

Then take a look at recent Super Bowl winners and you will see all have a very strong secondary. While they all have at least a decent pass rush some of them have lacked that amazing pass rusher that everyone loves so much.

A good QB with quick reaction can negate a good pass rush. As can a good OL. A strong secondary though is far more consistant.

Bottom line, we need CBs more than pass rushers.

We can actually go CB early this year since we have mostly everything else up front checked off.

Im all for going CB with our first pick.

    you need both

Von Miller makes a bigger impact than any cornerback in the NFL.

Elite pass rusher more important than an elite cornerback.

You can gameplan around a good cornerback, but a good pass rush causes so many more problems..

But good for you for voicing your opinion on the matter @The Hammer im very proud of how you made it bold to make it sound like a fact instead of an opinion.

Yea just most GMs seem to agree that edge is more important then CB.

Regardless we need to improve our CBs and I think it would go a long way to making Orakpo/Morgan look even better. Doesn't mean we also can't draft edge this year. its a good draft for both CB and edge.

    Explain Carolina and Houston then

You also conveniently leave out that Denver also has an excellent secondary

Pass rushers are simply near the ball more often and can be disruptive in every way, pass and run. CB's not quite.

But because of Orakpo & Morgan we dont have to worry about that.

A good secondary shutting down a passing game is far more important than someone getting a sack here and there
