Panthers blitzed a record (or nearly record) setting amount of times

At one point in the season they were blitzing 47% of the time

    That's crazy

Both are important, but we have a good pass rush for the next couple of years with Rak, Morgan, and Casey.

If there is a CB worth taking at 5 we have to take him. But it all depends on how we rank the prospects. If the BPA is a rusher and the best CB isn't worth taking til 18, that might be the way to go.

Yes, thankfully it is. The stars are aligned, if we do koto take advantage of the deep CB class this year it will be a major wasted opportunity.

I always say pass rush is more important than CBs but in the Titans case they definitely need CBs more than anything

I think both are extremely important & play off each other. There are times you see coverage sacks & many times you see great coverage due to hurried passes. It is complimentary football.

However, to THIS team; addressing CB is more important that addressing Pass Rush. We already have above average Pass Rushers. We have NOTHING in CBs.

This secondary has to be addressed early.

I do think that Pass Rush is overall more important. A good to great pass rush will always effect play & allow the CBs to play much better. Hurried throws, interceptions, sacks, loss of yardage, Forced Fumbles, Safeties, 3rd & long situations, or check downs can all be a result of Pass Rush.

Good to great CB play can lead to coverage sacks. However, this does not happen near as much these days. There are so many options to prevent QBs from holding on to the ball for longer than needed. QBs are coached to death on getting the ball out quick as well. It does happen, just not at the rate it used to IMO. Interceptions, blocked passes, and getting the defense off the field quicker are a result of good coverage.

There are just more ways a team can improve it's odds with a great pass rush. Especially with more college teams running spread offenses. It has really hurt the amount of quality Oline prospects entering the league.

Of course both are important....and the Titans cb's are particularly bad.....while I agree that the pass rushers are above average....that being said if Garrett or Allen fall to us...we would be stupid not to take them...

Any team that actually blitzes nearly 50% of the time is because they are beyond awful at getting to the QB, and awful coverage as well..

What's the league average on blitzing? I'm sure it's nowhere near 50%.. probably somewhere in the 30s at most

    Blitzing 47% reeks of desperation

They can though. Note the Steelers for the SB wins in 05' and 08'. Not a great secondary by any means but a very good pass rush.
I just don't think that their success means its the rule. A few others pointed out you need a good combo of both.
If a QB has all day to throw, it doesn't matter how good the CB's are, WR will get open. A good pass rush can also cause forced bad throws and make subpar CB's look better, note Finnegan.
