Guarantee we will bring in a RB either in draft or FA. I doubt early in draft because we have other important needs such as OL. Jamie Harper is not cutting it. Not sure if Ringer will come back to his potential or when exactly. I def. hope so and wish him all the luck because he's been devoted to this team.

According to the cba we have to spend 90% of our cap anyway and we have the room to keep CJ and still get a couple of good players in free agency.

Why make yet another major need area for this team that will likely be filled by uncertain rookies?

We have nobody to replace him!

It's $10M in salary for one more season. We can still get rid of him next year if he shows decline.

And it is hard to equate the money we save this year by cutting him with new 4-5 year contracts that we would give free agents.

Levitre, could be a lot more expensive than we think. He is the best guard available and he is only 26. He might be looking for $9M a year.

Levitre will benefit from a weak free agency year for sure, but we have the money to spend and the need.

    My God i disagree.

We won 9 games with the same talent just last year.

You forgot about the 99 rams? They had 6 straight losing seasons and were 4-12 in 98 and won it all in 99.

That has to be the worse analysis i have ever read. The Vikings went from 3-13 in 2011 to 10-6 and a playoff.

The Redskins went from 5-11 to 11-5.

The colts, duh? What makes us so different?

And your analysis about CJ reaching 30 and being done does not apply to the situation at all. We are not deciding to keep him until 30. We are not signing him to a new deal just whether to keep him this year. Whether or not he'll be crap 3 years from now has no relevancy.

You can't manage a team out of fear or negativity. Well we'll suck for the next 7 years anyway so cut everybody! WTF?

    Money....

And again as in all CJ conversations nobody mentions that we gave this guy a $20M SB with the idea that he would be around a while. You don't give a guy $20M and then cut him after 2 years that is a waste of an investment.

To cut him now would be equal to paying him $18M a year for the 2 years he was under that contract. Why not give him one more year and try to get some value out of that. They don't care that much about the $10M salary they have to pay as much as the lump $20M they gave him 2 years ago.

And remember that since that $20M is already paid it adds up to a $4M average cap hit whether he is on the team or not.

And we need to stop equating money saved on the cap for this year with giving some free agent a 5 year deal. A guy like Levitre will be costing us for a long time.

I would like us to grab Levitre just because it puts less pressure on us to draft need come draft day. I would love to be able to grab the two best defensive players on the board rounds 1 and 2, then grab a lineman in the third or even a receiver.

Yea Levitre would be a big hit, but it helps us fill other positions that will become available AND not have to go to free agency looking for names there. I really think Levitre is just as, if not more, important than us going after Manning last season.

One of the best runningbacks in the game, very new and raw QB with weapons around him.......put some insurance on those guys and improve the play of everyone on the field.

Let me refine my numbers a bit. CJ has made $15M and some change in salary and other bonuses over the past 2 seasons. Add in the SB and cutting him means we had paid him $35M for just 2 years of service or $1.7.5M per. Good deal?

The other thing is that his SB is a $3.3M annual hit for the remainder of the contract whether he is a titan or not.

So get him some better linemen and see if he responds and if his performance is mediocre you are totally justified in not keeping him next year. This year we look cheap.

    Honestly? Quarterback.

'99 Rams had Warner. Skins have RG3. Colts have Luck. Vikings have Ponder. Ponder is the only one of that group that you could even make an argument for Locker being in the same league as while keeping a straight face.

Oh i don't know about that. RGS got to run that run/pass option read stuff. He may not be quite as effective in our offense.

Let me rephrase that, he definitely wouldn't be as effective in our offense.
