I think that if it was substance abuse, that broght him down, then he can regain his talent and speed simply by playing. That doesn't just dissappear. It's always there. He just needs to get on the field. However, if the injuries have slowed him, then I wouldn't do it. Cause you don't always come back from that.

Taking a short look won't help. Someone has to commit to a comeback. He's got a short road back, but it will take at least half a season to know if he can play.

The reason I like Rogers over Williams is that Rogers has actually produced at the NFL level. During his rookie season prior to his first collarbone snap CR looked pretty solid (I remember having him in my fantasy league his first season). Williams has been relatively healthy the last two seasons and still hasn't been able to earn the third wideout spot, he simply doesn't have the game.

If he dropped from running a 4.3 to not being able to top a 4.8 in 10+ runs at different workouts, that's a terrible sign

    This guy is toast

taking a look at him, i dont mind, but before we commit, lets have him run that 40 again, and see his hands.

Is it just a lions curse or what?

All these "great" prospects they've drafted at WR and almost all have been complete bust. Drafted by Detroit for career death.

Don't limit Lions draft busts to WRs, I seem to recall a promising young prospect named Joey Harrington...

Anyway, what harm can be done bringing Rogers in for a look-see? Last year we signed that former Jags/Steelers WR for a while only to be cut later, and never spoken of again. No harm done.
