Just going ahead and getting this in writing. Chris Borland will be the Russell Wilson of middle linebackers. He will fall to the 2nd-4th round range (I'm guessing end of 2nd) due to physical limitations (5-11 and limited speed) but he will become a dominant force in the middle of someone's defense. Guy is a terror and in my opinion, would be well worth our 2nd round pick. His best fit is a hybrid scheme (regardless of his speed). Teams that I could see him excel with:

    Tennessee Titans
    Denver Broncos
    Miami Dolphins
    Pittsburgh Steelers

Personally I think I might prefer UConn's Yawin Smallwood, much more athletic than Borland.

Borland was very impressive all week at the senior bowl and obviosuly has put up productive numbers throughout his career. i see him as a Zach Thomas type of guy.

I still think that we need to pick up a MLBer in FA as well as draft one.

The way the league is going you want your MLB to be able to cover. The NFL for the first time ever just had 2 QB's with over 5000-yards passing. It would be dumb to take the slower, shorter, more rigid Boreland. His got little arms also (28 5/8 inches). Not that he's a bad player, but if we could, I'd rather we go Smallwood. Bigger, faster, great cover LB.

And I know people notice RB's now flanked out as WR's every 3-4 plays. Smallwood can hang with those guys in man coverage.

I watched a couple of Smallwood's videos and that guy looks slower than hell.
