The Titans re-signed former receiver Chris Davis on Tuesday, giving the third-year veteran a second chance to contibute in Nashville.

His immediate impact could occur on special teams, where nearly halfway through the 2009 season, the Titans have yet to find a full-time return man.

Davis, a fourth-round pick of the Titans in the 2007 NFL Draft, was released this summer, shortly after being arrested for drunk driving in Nashville. He worked out for the Titans on Tuesday.

Davis played in 17 games for the Titans between 2007-08, catching seven passes for 69 yards.

Even more important, he has also averaged 26 yards on kickoff returns and 9.1 yards on punt returns.
