For 50 million, he better be reaching 1400 no matter how many carries he gets. Granted, if he does big things in the passing game, ill be happier. Time to be the playmaker he got paid to be. Thats all I want from him.

Exactly. You want the big bucks, its time to earn em. Last year, we'd have gotten just as good production out of Ringer and Harper.

I am optimistic though. Hutch should help the blocking. And we will either have a new center in Matthews or the Alabama kid, or a healthier Amano (seems pretty clear his ankle and knee were messed up.)

That, and the fact that CJ seems dedicated as he can be gives me hope. And, for the first time in his career, he should see NO stacked fronts. With Kendall Wright impressing thus far, Britt looking likely to be back at some point, Cook and Washington finishing the season strong... there is no way teams can stack the box with all that on the outside.

I like what Mike Keith said on the miday 180 today... CJ needs to have 2,000 TOTAL yards this year, and needs to get back to his 10+ yard per CATCH average from 2009 more than anything.

I'm hoping he gets 1600+ total yards. IDK how he'll do running, but he better get 1600+ of something.

You pay a RB $50mill you better make damn sure your starting centre is a good one.

CJ did become CJ sideways and a tin man but jeebus I didn't blame him.
Scott,Amano & Harris were shocking togther.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if he surpasses 1400. I don't see it.
Middle of the pack this season in yards.. Book it.

I'm in the minority because i want him LESS involved in our passing game. I want our other guys more involved. It's inevitable that he will get a certain number of dump off type plays but he has not been that effective and even with his speed he has a poor yards per catch average.

The average back gets 8 yards a catch his career average is just 7.4 and it seems to be going down.

    As for rushing yards..1000-1200

this definitely is a crossroads season for him as his career seems to be in decline.

I'm expecting around 1350 rushing yards from him, but he needs to be getting 1600 yards every season with the money he's being paid. 100 rushing yards per game average. Not too much to ask for, but it won't happen.

To illustrate my last post look at CJ's receiving numbers from last year.

57 catches but he only averaged 7.3 yards a catch. Eddie George averaged 8.3 ypc for his whole career.

With those 57 catches CJ only produced 13 first downs and no TDs. Not impressive at all! Only 4 of the 57 catches produced 20 or more yards.

I would rather have Stevens in there for protection and CJ on the bench taking a blow.

Are we really going to knock him for a slightly lower YPC? How much of that does he have control over? It's usually a dumpoff over the middle with linebacker right behind him. It's almost always chip and middle. Rarely ever see him in the flats.

C.J. is a lousy receiver. but I'd still like to see him catch the ball out in space
