How many times do you think teams knew we were going to run when Eddie George lined up behind McNair? They probably expected it a lot, but still couldn't stop it all the time. Welcome to smash mouth running.

Bell isn't exactly a great receiver although he is fast and about the same size as Johnson. Also, I doubt he would be happy in Tennessee if he wasn't happy in Detroit with his role and playing time. He would stay one year and jump ship to a team where he thought he could get more playing time. Does he return kicks or punts? Answer no.... Bell hasn't returned a KO or punt his entire career in the NFL which isn't what we need right now.

Interesting that his average yard per carry prior to 07 was just 4.0.

His rushing stats in 07 almost identical to tatum bell's last year(03) at oklahoma state with 1300 yards and a 6 yard average. Bell had almost 1100 yards with a 6.3 ypc in 02.

So instead of getting bell with maybe a 5th rd pick we get a back with our 1st rd pick because he can return kick offs?

My guess is that with these numbers it will require a first for us to get him. If he is there for us in the second and we draft him i won't complain but the draft is hard to predict and we could get a decent back even before the draft.

As for bell not liking it here there are few better places for him. He could come in and quickly earn the #2 spot and depending on how he plays he could take carries away from lendale.. Being a contract year he should be motivated. If he plays well and it is obvious that henry isn't working out we can work on a longer term deal. He is only 26..

Did Bell ever have 3000 all purpose yards in a season? He's not going to be taken because of his ability as a RB, it's because of his ability to do it all.

For what it's worth, he's considerably faster than Hester, Figurs, and Cribbs.

no. chris johnson is not going to be a first round pick. he's fast and he can catch, great, but he can't run inside and he can't break tackles.

Neither can Reggie Bush. Whatever teams take him in the 1st round, and I believe he has a legit shot to go to someone maybe before we pick he will be used as a pass catching RB and occasional slot WR who is also a dynamic KR.

In answer to Tide the problem with Bell is if he can't return kicks and he isn't anything special coming out of the backfield (look up his stats, his avg per catch is less than 5 yards, not impressive) then unless we have an injury at RB he might not even be worthy of staying active. Johnson would give us a boost on STs, RB and even WR. He would create mismatches and an occasional big play. That is what we need.

im glad you brought bush up. everyone is saying we should essentially use johnson the same way the saints are using bush.

is someone who averages 3.7 YPC and 7.2 YPR worth the 24th pick in the draft? this experiment has already failed with a much more talented player.
