did you watch the 2009 season at all? prolly not you just love to blindly hate CJ for no reason.

for the first 6 games, CJ had 15, 16, 22, 16, 9, 17 carries... during those 6 games he rans for over 700 yards.

lendale also had more carries in the first 6 games.

once the playoffs were realistically out of reach, we went for the record.

keep hating on CJ for making trivial statements "because he sounds like an idiot when he talks"

    hes a ball player brah

McNair, George, Bruce Mathews, Bulluck, Wycheck and Finnegan all got paid nicely to stay after or before their rookie contracts expired. All were very good/great players for the Titans during their second contract. McNair and George were DONE when the Titans so selfishly showed them the door. Add Blaine Bishop and his negativity to the list of guys that bad mouth the organization as a guy who didn't know when he was done. That 1 season at Philly worked out nicely for him. Bulluck is probably done and Mathews and Wycheck knew when to walk away or Titans naysayers would be saying the organization ran them out at some point.

Haynesworth, Drew Bennett, McCareins, Jon Runyun, Rolle, Pacman, Lendale, KVB, Kearse, etc all have been worse or even busts after the Titans "wouldn't pay them".

The only two guys the Titans might like a redo on are DMase and A. Odom and still neither has truly matched their success as a Titan.

You'd be hard pressed to find another team that makes better decisions about letting guys walk or resigning them. Maybe CJ should say there's teams out there that will overpay for players.

As for CJ, can he and his enablers allow him to play more than 2 seasons of a 5 year contract before we assume the Titans won't "pay" a possible Hall of Fame type player? History does in fact reflect we WILL pay him to stay.

Being known for "not paying" isn't quite as lackluster when the organization was right to not pay almost every time.

You must be right. Strange how it keeps coming up in the media though that the Titans are known for not paying their players. :?:

You are right Riverman, the media does say that and in a way they're right. A lot of players say that and they are right. What they don't mention is how often the Titans are right to not do it. If Runyun, Haynesworth or any other player walks when their contract is up and that player goes on to put up All Pro seasons with another team then it's impossible for me or anyone else to defend the organization?
    Do you not agree?

So what you are saying is no matter how much money another team wants to pay one of our FAs, obviously before we know that player will have multiple pro-bowls, the team has to honor the ridiculous contract. Sorry, the Titans did the right thing with AH when it got to that point. Obviously they could have done something more earlier. The bottom line is there is more to the formula than just the guy being good. You have to look at the whole picture. The Titans ended up being in CAP hell so how does handing Runyon a huge contract help that scenario from occurring? Bottom line is you have to make some tough decisions and sometimes you simply have to let the player go. One rule of thumb however. If the player wants a huge huge huge salary with huge guaranteed money more times than not they are not worth it. The teams that grab these guys in the open market get burned all the time.

FWIW Titans offered Runyon about the same $$ as the Eegles did. 5 yrs 30m IIRC, but Philly offered 20m guranteed vs 10m guranteed from Tennessee - plus Runyon was from that area so there you go.
