Colts officially add Matt Hasselbeck

The Colts on Tuesday officially announced the signing of former Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck.

Hasselbeck was released on Monday by the Titans after the two sides were unable to agree to a restructured contract.

“We are very pleased to announce the signing of Matt Hasselbeck,” Colts General Manager Ryan Grigson said. “His body of work, intangibles, and extensive league experience speak for themselves. Those factors, plus his familiarity with our offensive scheme, will make him a great asset to our team and its vision as we move forward.”

Hasselbeck, a 14-year veteran, has completed 3,029-of-5,018 passes for 34,517 yards, 201 touchdowns and 147 interceptions for a passer rating of 82.2 in his career.

He was scheduled to make $5.5 million in the final year of his contract with the Titans. He signed a two-year deal worth reportedly $8 million with the Colts.

exactly what I thought when I heard the news

So $4M/yr huh, wonder what we were offering for him not to renegotiate.

This is a win-win for me. My precious Titans save money and cap space they can use to bolster our team and Matt Hasselbeck gets a nice last pay day. I'm happy for happy for him. 4 mil for being a tutor is not bad at all.

He is now the only Colt player I wouldn't mind running into downtown by chance.

Pretty sure I would vomit if I accidentally ran into any of the others (esp. Luck)

First KFC now Hass. Colts seem to like aged former Titans starters.

Atleast we get to see our boy Hass warming someone else's bench twice a year.

They just ignited a quarterback controversy.
