A lot of AFC South fans think that Jake Locker and Blaine Gabbert will long be compared to each other since they were drafted a few picks apart from each other, and will be playing in the same division. However, I've been doing some thinking, and think it will be more interesting to compare our situation over the long run to the one in Minneapolis.

The Tennessee Titans and the Minnesota Vikings are at very similar points in building a franchise right now. Take a look at some of the similarities:

Both have rookie QBs selected in the 1st Round of the Draft
Titans: Jake Locker / Vikings: Christian Ponder

Both brought in veteran QBs as Free Agents to help mentor that young QB
Titans: Matt Hasselbeck / Vikings: Donovan McNabb

Both lost 2 QBs from last year: 1 to retirement and 1 to Free Agency
Titans: Kerry Collins & Vince Young / Vikings: Brett Favre & Tarvaris Jackson

Both have arguably the best RBs in the league
Titans: Chris Johnson / Vikings: Adrian Peterson

Both have stables of young, unproven WRs

Both lost a solid DE to Free Agency
Titans: Jason Babin / Vikings: Ray Edwards

Both have relatively unheralded #1 CBs
Titans: Cortland Finnegan / Vikings: Antoine Winfield

Both have completely new coaching regimes
Titans: Mike Munchak / Vikings: Leslie Frazier

Both are in tough divisions that feature an elite QB
Titans: AFC South & Peyton Manning / Vikings: NFC North & Aaron Rodgers

I could keep going, but I think I've provided enough examples. I just think that it's really interesting right now that in today's league, we have 2 teams that are in very similar situations. I think it will be interesting to see which of these two teams will find success first, in terms of making it to the Playoffs and winning Playoff games. Who will become the cemented starter first, between Locker and Ponder? Which head coach will keep his job longest? It's interesting to me to look at these teams side-by-side and compare.

    Wow, that's a great comparison.

Never even looked at it like that. But there are tons of similarities between us and the Vikings.

Both cities NHL franchises were at some point owned in part or in full by the same man.

I can see these 2 teams rising from the ashes at the same rate. Minnesota was looking at many of the same players we were.

There are definitely many similarities between the two teams. They're better though.

And now you better bet everyone on here will be comparing these two teams all season even though they're a little bit more talented.

It all depends on how the quarterbacks develop. One will almost assuredly be a bust.
