Even if Shipley is a little better player than Williams we have our paisan in Mariani to make up the difference and then some.

Actually Mariani is a very similar player to Shipley. Similar size, great hands, runs good routes and both return. So we basically got a guy with similar talent as Shipley in the later rounds. Mariani is the type of player that would have been an earlier draft pick had he played at a school like TX.

The argument of getting Shipley would hold more water if Williams had not looked good. Williams looks like a guy who has been playing WR in the NFL for a couple of years already despite missing the first 1/2 of camp with an injury. He has great hands and I really like his physical play. He already runs great routes and understands the position.

I have to admit Shipley has looked fantastic for Cincy and is already their #3 passing up everyone on the depth chart other than TO and Ocho. He's flat out the reason Housh didn't end up back in Cincy.
