I ended up getting a Toshiba Sat L505 for 599 a few months ago. Still looking at the MACs and think that one day I will get one.

So the Toshiba I bought......JUST POOPED the bed. Something internal with the power. I have to send it back. Wishing I would have just gotten a MAC right about now. Anyone got one for sale cheap?

Not sure. It was plugged in and closed, when I tried to power it on, the battery light was flashing, saying it was dead. Checked the plugs, all good. Called customer service, the had me do a few things and said it needed to be sent in. Its not the AC adaptor(my wife has a toshiba as well). It is covered, but I had to leave for work for 20 days and needed it. I am using a GOV computer now. sucks.

where was the laptop sitting? you said in the bed? that's your problem... go stick a bed sheet over the rear of your house fan and youll see that the fan does little to no good. even tho the lid is closed, its still not able to get air in there to cool off the components because it wasn't on a flat surface. That is a pretty common way for laptops to die a quick death.

I bought a laptop stand that has a USB fan underneath it on amazon.com for about 15 bucks. One of the best investments ive ever made. It keeps the underside of my laptop as cool as the other side of the pillow.

Toshiba's are known for that. My brothers did the same when he first got it. Had no issues since.
Mine hasn't done it ever, but I am upgrading to a new laptop shortly.

Bleh, Macs aren't immune to problems like that. A buddy of mine got a new iMac about 6 months ago and had to send it back after just a few days because of problems. They ended up just sending him a new one.
