(1)Sorry, I completely ignored this part of your post. To be honest, It's been so long since I've seen VY run around when it mattered that I have trouble remembering how his speed relates to that of linebackers. He has pure speed, that's without question, but I don't remember him being very shifty. If LBs sit back in a zone, which I imagine they would against VY, his lack of shiftiness might not make this as easy as it sounds. Also, I'm not sure this would work at all against a 3-4 with a big enough DT.

    (2) In 07, this was pretty much the Standard Operating Procedure for every defense we faced and VY struggled throwing the ball anyway. However, 07 was forever ago and his passing competence may have improved a lot since then.

    (3) This kind of goes back to my first point on this post, but Defenses are much faster in the pros than in college, which I'm sure you know. However, the speed of the defenses is what makes the run-option game almost irrelevant in the NFL, and the run-option was a large part of the offense, and it did a lot to open up the Texas passing game.

Also, the QB is much more open to injury, and unless the QB has the same skill set as VY (extremely unlikely) you'd almost have to install 2 offenses.

By the way, I'm not just trying to tear down your version of the spread. Most if not all of my complaints are completely hypothetical. I just personally favor a Strong/weak/power-I formation offense and using the FB/2ndBack and TE motion to spread the D.

Speaking of which, it wouldn't be that hard to install a TE motion in the offense that basically makes him an extra run blocker in the spread if one were so inclined; I could definitely be missing some of the intricacies in what makes a spread offense more versatile.
