As we know, the reigning NFL champions get to open the following season at home, what we dont know is who will they play...

Could the Titans be that team? Since late December fans have known who their teams will be playing.

Looking back to 2012 you can see you dont have to be a playoff team to get the chance to play in this game.

2014 Green Bay (8-7-1) at Seattle (13-3) NFC vs NFC
2013 Baltimore (10-6) at Denver (13-3) AFC vs AFC
2012 Dallas (8-8) at New York Giants (9-7) NFC vs NFC
2011 New Orleans (11-5) at Green Bay (10-6) NFC vs NFC
2010 Minnesota (12-4) at New Orleans (13-3) NFC vs NFC
2009 Tennessee (13-3) at Pittsburgh (12-4) AFC vs AFC

Although unlikely, maybe they do pick us.

We do seem to draw the Jags week-1 a bit, 2007, 2008, 2011,

Snowflakes chance in hell. The Cowboys did it, but we aren't the Cowboys. We are the Titans. Otherwise known as the first team they will check off the list when picking this game.

Reason I think we have a small shot is because every team gets at least one Thursday night game, and every year ours is late in the season when we're no longer worth watching. Im sure CBS and NFLN dont want anymore Tennessee games in December, nobody watches at that point.

Just let us get ours in and be done with it.

We opened with NE a few years ago and it didn't go well. I hate starting the season with a loss almost as much as I hate going 2-14. You just feel like you're in a hole the entire season trying to dig your way out.

Let's start with Oakland or Jacksonville and get that first win under our belts.

But I don't see anyway we open the season against New England. The game would probably be over by half-time and the NFL wants good ratings and a storyline. The only storyline we have is that we sucked this year.

Thats whats wrong with this franchise, when theyre down they think theyve already lost, no tenacity at all.

The storyline we could offer is team with the most off season moves, that could be interesting if we do it right.

No way they open the season with the defending champs vs the worst team in the league. Makes no sense. Your "get their TNF game out of the way" theory makes sense but not first game of the season against the best.
