For the sake of hypothetical discussion, here's a list of possible 2011 FA RB's.

Of those guys the ones that intrigue me most are:

Ronnie Brown- I think he'd be an excellent fit for our system and what we're TRYING to do. If only the guy could stay healthy. Although Ronnie isn't a real possibility unless *GASP* CJ weren't here anymore (and Miami doesn't resign him obviously).

Michael Bush- I like Bush. I wouldn't want him to be our full time starter or anything. But he'd be a near perfect complement to CJ IMO (of course assuming we are actually looking for a complement).

Ahmad Bradshaw- Like Brown, a nice fit for our system. Also like Brown, probably would never happen with CJ here.

Mike Tolbert- This is perhaps the most intriguing and realistic option. He's been excellent in his limited opportunities in San Diego. Could probably be had for a pretty reasonable price if he hits the market.

My ideal scenario would be get CJ squared away to a contract that is suitable to both sides and snag Tolbert. As the weeks go by it's becoming more and more obvious that CJ simply can't continue to take this kind of workload and beating. He looks tired already and we're only 4 games in.

CJ around 15 carries a games... Ringer 5+... Tolbert short yardage specialist. = WIN :D

Who cares about the system. The system of mediocrity. Dwill has always split carries and is far more of a speed back than power back so paying him millions to come here to be a more between the tackles version of cj while upping his workload provides pretty much no upside.

I don't get it. San Diego has Ryan Matthews, Darren Sproles and Mike Tolbert. Why do they have so many good RB's?

Why should we bring in another RB? People will just complain that he's being used like, well, a RB.

Ringer has looked pretty damn good, and we cut LGB so that shows the confidence and commitment thay have in CJ and Ringer. They'll probably sit on them, and if a RB falls in the draft or is cheap in FA, that's when they'll make a move.

Of course, I'm still fuming over cutting LGB for a ST's LB (especially since they were bringing one in already).

I'd rather worry about re-signing Stephen Tulloch to a long term deal!

Eh, I don't see us even taking a look at Williams. Honestly, I've never been super impressed by him anyway. I'd much rather worry about our Center and seeing if Britt and Cook are the playmakers we drafted them to be, aka play them more Fisher, idiot.

I'd rather draft someone to be completely honest. Backs are become less valued and you can get some pretty solid talent with later picks.

How about we replace the coach before we replace our franchise player?

yeah but we all know Bud wont let Fisher go.

And Ahmad Bradshaw would be nice. I wish the NY Giants never realized he was the best back on the team. It was obvious for at least 1.5 seasons while behind the crappy Brandon Jacobs.
