I like Morgan, but I can't see him as an OLB in coverage.

Morgan is suppose to rush the QB and stuff the run. No way in hell should he ever be in coverage, even if it's just part time.

Let's also not forget that an 3-4 OLB is practically the same thing as an 4-3 DE.

I still don't want to see Morgan in coverage though.

The coverage responsibilties of the OLBers in the 3-4 are very limited. Usually they involve dropping back to get in the way of the quick slant and then covering the flat. I don't remember James Harrison and Lamar Woodley chasing WRs deep down field.

The key to whether Morgan can make the transition is if he can actually get to the QB more often than he did as a DE.

I like our mix of youth and experience in Morgan, Ayers, Phillips, and Wimbley.

They've already said they only coverage he'll be in is in the flats. Anyone with any shred of athleticism should be able to handle that easy coverage.

We've sent Morgan to cover the flats as a DE in the past. Not sure which games but it is on tape, its actually fairly common to let your ends drift out and cover that space. The Panthers All-Star Greg Hardy dropped back into coverage multiple times a game last year and he's much heavier than Morgan is. Covering the flats isn't too hard, its a small space and everything is funneled to an even smaller space.

    Ayers was probably high.

Not that it matters either way. Ayers sucks and so does Morgan.
