I can understand rolling onto a QB's leg or grabbing and twisting but that wasn't the case here.

bad call on that sack by Morgan. It was a good call on the horse collar though

I don't mind it too much. Morgan just got caught in a tough spot - maybe a little bit pushed into the passer but it was mostly on his own momentum. Unfortunate call, but I'd rather a black-and-white rule than one that gives refs a lot of grey area (see robbed: Calvin Johnson).

Good play by Morgan. I'd coach him to do nothing different in the future, and just accept that sometimes you'll get some calls. I think I'd probably want the call if someone fell into Vince's legs.

I think the bottom line is if you are a d-lineman or a rushing LB and you are falling to the ground you need to just tuck your hands away. Because you can't touch anyone.

It's a lame rule. And I wish refs would follow the "spirit" of the rule more than the actual lettering. It's one thing to dive at someone knees, its another just to stick an arm out and grab a leg.

I think the rule needs to be changed a little. If you are pushed down toward the qb's legs it should not be a penalty. Also if you remember in the preseason I think it was against the Cardinals but the qb started to run and the player got the sack and they called tripping. There are too many calls that get in the way of the game that should not be penalty's.

what if you fall near the feet of a qb and are laying on the ground and as the qb starts to run past you reach up and grab his leg and pull him down. Is that hitting a qb below the knee?

Another rule I've always thought was crazy is the new facemask rule where every facemask penalty is the 15 yard kind. I think it makes things more dangerous. In the past a guy would get his hand on the mask and immediately release to avoid the 15 yard personal foul. These days if I'm a coach I'm telling my players not to let go...youre getting a 15 yard penalty anyway...don't let him get by you.

It was the right call based on the rule, but the rule should be modified to distinguish between diving at a guys legs and falling but still tackling someone by the leg. You've got to let them keep doing their job.

Nice to see Morgan get a sack in his first NFL game. So far, 2 games, 2 sacks. Yeah, preseason doesn't count, but still.

I disagree about the horsecollar rule. I think it's a good rule. That being said, there have been some pretty weak horsecollar calls.
