I don't think you have to spend your cap room, as long as next year you still have it. I think we should try to bag a big free agent when we can, even if we must wait until next year to do it.

I think/hope we'll spend a significant amount of money redoing contracts for players whose contracts aren't up. We need to keep some talent around. If we can keep wade and smith from this year, I'll be happy.

    Um...

I think the point trying to be made is that if we aren't using our max (or near max) cap, then we are playing behind everyone else already ON THE FIELD.

Sure, it can save Bud some money, but why wouldn't you maximize your roster without killing your cap? Simply not spending it is counter-productive.

So what can you spend your cap on...extending players, re-upping our RFA's, ERFA's, and UF's, our draft picks.....and...SOME SERIOUS NEW TALENT IN FA.

Do we want to roll into next year with 15mil in cap room from 2007? No, that guarantees we put LESS talent on the field than we could (SHOULD) have.

At the very least you throw a few million at guys like Roos even if it only adds one more year to their existing contract. No way you leave money on the table.

I agree, but with what im seeing, there isnt enough out there in A for me t believe we will use all of the space and bring in talent, i mean, there has just been alot of tagging this year, so we cant bring in the amount of talent, or teh level of it we were hoping for

First lesson, less is more. I would not do it because I would have to play with inferior talent for three years instead of one. You penalize yourself by spending poorly. You don't get that cap room back once you spend it. I'd rather have a big fish in 2008 then have a lot of small fish for 2007,2008,2009.

    Problem...

Nate Clements is about as god a player (or the biggest fish) that will actually hit free agency. If you get a Pro Bowl caliber player who's not too hurt or too old and that IS the big fish!

    Yes?
