He can make more money if he re signs with the lakers in free agency instead of signing an extension. So no matter what team he went to he would have waited till FA to sign long term cus he will get more money.

Extension is dumb because he can only make like $60 million doing that. If he explores free agency he can sign something like $100 million contract.

edit oops didn't see your post Baker

Who is Dwight going to play with in Dallas? Dirk? He is older than Kobe. LA will have a ton of cap room in 2 years when literally everybody comes of the books except for Nash and Dwight (assuming he resigns). That summer they will be able to sign 1 or 2 big free agents to go with Dwight and the team will be his from there on out. Don't see why he would go to Dallas at all.

Don't see why he would want to go to Brooklyn either but he kept saying Mavs or Brooklyn there for a while. Who knows if he'll wait around after 1 year if they don't win/make the finals. He isn't the smartest guy.

someone asked mitch the question about howard leaving and he said that they'll do their best to resign him... he also said that everyone that's been on the lakers have always resigned if they offered them a contract (with the exception of AC Green)

He originally wanted Dallas for the same reason he wanted Brooklyn. Deron Williams. Dallas and Brooklyn were Williams' top 2 choices in free agency this summer. Dwight wanted badly to play with Deron in either one of those cities, but now that Deron isn't in Dallas and going to Brooklyn is near impossible, I think both of those options are doubtful. Unless Dallas somehow acquires some young talent between now and next year.

exactly, time is ticking on nash and kobe and that would leave howard and gasol who is currrently 32. they aren't winning titles with that as their base.

As a Spurs fan there were 2 players i wanted, both ended up with the Lakers. I hope Nash gets a ring, I have a ton of respect for that guy.

Well hope that Orlando does not dislike Howard. As he seems to be a good guy. But there could be a lot of what we don't know behind the scenes that made him want to be traded.
