Better go get Joe Webb or that man-child who wore #10 for the titans because Jackson isn't much of a threat (dual or singular) these days.

I'm not saying he's a genius, but he was the only guy on TV at the time knocking our line.

Tom Couglin was the OC at Syracuse before coming to the NFL and working his way up. Doesn't really count...

Door is still open for Greg Schiano.

    Harbaugh counts.

Carroll doesn't, he was an NFL coach first.. but mostly remembered as a USC coach.
Bill Walsh was the HC @ Stanford before coming to the 49ers.

So yeah, I guess you're right lol .

I think he can pull it off. The biggest thing that got in the way of the losers I posted was their ego. If he can get good coordinators in there and works with them he can be alright. If he comes in like he is going to show those NFL guys something then, well, he will fall flat.

I also worry about why he is leaving. A few weeks ago he wanted to stay at Oregon. Now he want to go to the NFL. Something tells me he is getting out of Dodge before he is fired for recruiting violations. Been a lot of big name coaches fired in recent years for NCCA violations, abuse of players, and other non-fiootball-peroformance issues. Not sure how much his heart is in the NFL. Could be just an escape plan.

It always shocks me what I see the money owners give these guys despite repeated failures. Guys like this would be better off coming in as a coordinator first. Then working their way up. Like you pointed out with Tom Coughlin. Money and ego get in the way though :(

He will need a padded room if we are right about NCAA sanctions. For his sake I hope we are wrong

Do you blame them? I'd do the same thing. They dominate the college football, NCAA starts asking questions.. they jump ship and go to the NFL and get paid. Then, once they suck up the NFL, they go back to the NCAA without sanctions.

If he does, then yes.. great fit. But, I doubt he does. He'll be making 88 million, I'd pay him half of that. 5yr/44mil, thats 8.8 mil a year. Tell him to take it or leave it. If he leaves it, I doubt any other team pays him much better.
