Eric Decker to be traded or released

much rather have Decker if we can get him on a team friendly deal, which is looking likely.

 

There's a few issues I'd have with getting Decker (or any other vet WR for that matter):

• Practice reps - Even though he's a vet, he'd still have to get up to speed with Marcus, so he'd be taking precious practice reps away from Davis/Taylor/Sharpe in a crucial time of year
  
• Position - where would he play? He'd likely be on the field in 2 receiver sets, opposite Matthews, and maybe the slot in 3+ WR? Either way, he'd be eating into Davis' plays
• Value - If he eats into Davis' plays, why the hell did we just invest in him with the 5th overall pick for? And if Davis is losing snaps, Taylor definitely is too, so that's two of our top 3 picks that would suddenly be riding the pine a lot
• Health - Decker hasn't exactly been the model of good health lately, so could we even rely on him to be there all season?
  
• Age - He's not a long term solution, and ideally we already have that guy on our roster in the form of Corey Davis

The only way he makes sense is if,
A) we're not confident in Matthews
B) Davis isn't as healthy as advertised
C) Someone gets injured

And I hope none of those are true/happen.

 

I don't think he will eat into Davis's snaps or reps to be honest. I think decker would be used in the slot. With Walker and decker working the middle and Davis and Matthews on the outside.

 

5 reasons to sign Decker...

1. Good vet and will be productive with us, with Davis & Matthews. Taylor I think will get worked in slowly

2. Douglas sucks

3. Alot of youth at position, 2 unknowns in Davis & Taylor

4. Sharpe is WR4 so irrelevant

Good questions and valid concerns.

As a vet, he shouldn't need much time to gel with Mariflota.
He would be able to allow the Titans to ease Davis into the mix, keeping his snaps at an optimum level so he doesn't hit the rookie wall as drastically.
More vet leadership, tips/tricks to teach Davis/Taylor.
Ease some pressure off of Matthews.
Injuries happen.
