You have to Blitz at the right times or its usless. NFL QBs are too good to not pick apart a defense that blitzes too often.

Unless its KC who couldn't do a thing in the 4th quarter against a blitzing Jets defense.

On a more serious note though, that is so wrong. The ravens and now the jets (under Rex Ryan) blitz something like 60% of the time. Both teams are 3-1 with very solid defenses. Not saying any team can blitz all the time, but you can blitz very often and still do it with success if you do it the right way.

Except just like in Haynesworth fashion he wouldn't be playing this week because he is injured. That dude is a complete animal but he only averages 10 games a year and is ALWAY hurt come playoff time. Sure he is good but not 100 million a year good. If we would have done that then right now we would have a 60 million dollar man AND a 100 million dollar man riding the bench!

    Really?

How have QB's done against the Jets this year? Against the Ravens?

The Jets are blitzing almost 65% of the time. You'd think a QB like Drew Bress would rip them apart...but he didn't have a single passing TD against them.

If you're smart and can blitz effectively, you can also limit how the offesne responds. We haven't blitzed well, and even when we've had a perfect playcall (we brought the house against the Jets but because of poor execution by Bulluck and KVB, Sanchez had a free lane to run for a TD instead of getting sacked).

We need to correct our blitzing and not play not to lose. We will need to bring pressure from a lot of different places and be effective with it if we want to win this game. Playing a quarters zone vs Peyton all game will lead to more mis-communication in the secondary and 'blown' coverages. Mix it up and disguise coverage. Pressure! Pressure!! Pressure!!!
