I haven't upgraded to Leopard yet but plan to soon. Time Machine appeals to me but I want to look at external hard drives first. I'm guessing 500 GB would be the minimum I'd want.

Any of you macheads bought an external recently or have a recommendation on some HD options?

    Meh.

I have a "friend" who installed a "Hackintosh" on their x86.

I have to say that OS X looks just like a heavily tweaked KDE desktop.
I don't get why it has any dedicated fans.

Any geek can mimic those features with free software.

Paying Jobs every year...or upgrading Linux constantly.
    I'll take the free option.

The Time capsule is a very nice little machine. The 500 gb is only $299 which ain't bad.

considering the Apple Extreme Router is $179
and a decent 500gb HDD may cost another $150 or so
yes it is a good deal

may wait until the 1tb unit drops to $399 and SNAG!
